Many Christians visit Israel as well as other parts of Palestine and the many religious sites in that region. However, few know that Iraq contains more archeological, historic, and important religious sites than any nation in the world.
Iraq is home to the birthplace of Abraham (Ur of the Chaldeas), the tombs of famous prophets and biblical figures such as Daniel, Jonah, Nahum, Noah, Esther, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego - to name just a few.
It is also home to some of the most important ancient monasteries and churches in the world - many dating to the 3rd and 4th centuries.
A number of Yezidi, Muslim and other religious sites will be included in this fascinating tour.
Tour I– 8 Days – Kurdistan via Vienna, Austria
See Kurdistan’s most important religious and historical sites - especially the many monasteries, ancient churches, and synagogues.
You will visit Nahum’s tomb, former Jewish cities and Amadiya where it is reported that the Magi set out to bring gifts of frankincense, gold and myrrh to the Messiah.
Meet descendants of the Chaldeans who first witnessed the Star of Bethlehem.
Find out why Erich Brauer in his book “The Jews of Kurdistan” shows that the lost tribes of Israel live in this region to this day. Learn firsthand why Kurdistan is known as “The Other Holy Land.”
Tour II – 12 Days – Kurdistan via Vienna, Austria
On this tour your will see the sites mentioned above and have added adventures such as a visit to the old Jewish City of Koisinjak, with its famous gold and silver Bazaar (now a cultural center) as well as the ancient Jewish Caravanserai (hotel on the Silk Road) and a restored Jewish residence.
You will lunch high over the city of Sulymania (one of Kurdistan’s grandest views). From here you can see into ancient Persia.
Meet students of Kurdistan’s only American Christian school – "The School of the Medes" and witness how Kurdistan’s government has provided a safe haven for Christians in Iraq.
Tour III – 14 Days – Jordan and Kurdistan
Added to your Kurdistan itinerary are two exciting days in Jordan.
The first day will be spent visiting numerous historical and religious sites such as Mt. Hebron, the Dead Sea and ancient Roman ruins and churches.
Your second day will take you to Petra – one of the wonders of the world. Then on to Kurdistan!
Tour IV – 18 days – Vienna, Istanbul and Kurdistan
You will visit famous sites such as St. Stephen’s Cathedral with a tour of the catacombs beneath the Church - palaces and museums abound. From Vienna travel to Istanbul, Turkey and learn secrets about the city that few know and dine in a Roman cistern beneath the city. Visit Europe and Asia all in one day and lunch at the highest peak in the city. Enjoy shopping in the 5000 shops of the Covered Bazaar! From Istanbul, travel back to Vienna and on to Kurdistan.
